Nearly a century ago, MMC Materials began as Mississippi Concrete and Material Company, established in Jackson, Mississippi in 1927 by the company now known as Dunn Investment Company.

90 YEARS STRONG

In 1932, the company changed its name to Mississippi Materials Company and was led by Ellis Hoffpauir. In 1959 the company invested in a larger concrete plant and over the next 20 years expanded operations into locations throughout the state of Mississippi under the leadership of General Manager, Mike Mockbee.

Throughout the 80s and 90s, the company experienced dramatic growth in delivery and operations. Key leadership was provided by Elton Cook, Gary Ferebee and James French.

In 1999, Mississippi Materials Company changed its name to MMC Materials, Inc. and growth continued across all areas of the business. In 2002, Gulf Concrete experienced significant growth and Danny Rodgers, President and COO of MMC and Gulf, provided leadership. Gulf Concrete, our sister company and became Bayou Concrete with operations on the Mississippi and Alabama Gulf Coast.

In the early 2000s, expansion continued with the addition of plants in the Golden Triangle area. In 2006, Rodney Grogan, then current President of sister company Dunn Road Builders, became President of MMC Materials, Inc. Danny Rodgers, former President of MMC and Gulf became President and CEO of Dunn Investment Company. At this time, the words honesty, excellence and continuous improvement were incorporated into the company logos. 

Today, MMC Materials delivers comprehensive concrete solutions to commercial and residential customers throughout Mississippi, South Alabama, West Tennessee and Eastern Louisiana. As a premier concrete producer MMC Materials is committed to excellence, outstanding service, quality assurance and continuous innovation.
